The 1985 television mini-series, Anne of Green Gables, has always held a special place in my heart。 Megan Follows portrayed the feisty, loyal, escapist Anne Shirley to perfection。 I love all of the books in the series。 It's so much fun to follow Anne's journey from orphan girl to womanhood (dealing with all that comprises marriage and motherhood)。 This series is timeless! I'd recommend this saga to all those in search of a tale combining imagination, friendship, love and adventure with a lovely writing。 。。。more

This series will always hold such a special place in my heart。 I read the books alongside my grandmother, and she gifted them to me。 We also have spent hundreds of hours watching the tv-movie series over and over and over again。 Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe were the ORIGINAL favourite trope of my childhood <3<3<3

My all time favorite book series! I loved the first 3 books and 'Rilla of Ingleside'。 I did not care so much for the others but they are still very readable and I have read the series many times。 Anne is a character that many people can relate to。 Full of charming and interesting characters throughout。 Never a dull moment and I can barely put the books down! OVERALL THOUGHTS: I think the series has many strong points。 As someone who always longs for better 'epilogues' of my favorite characters' lives, this series actually does just that。 The first three books creates the strong character arc that makes it impossible to avoid becoming fond of Anne and the adventures she has。 Books 4 and 5 are the wrapping up of the romance plot of the book。 Books 6 and 7 are that fully fleshed-out epilogue of her children and their adventures that I wish more authors OVERALL THOUGHTS: I think the series has many strong points。 As someone who always longs for better 'epilogues' of my favorite characters' lives, this series actually does just that。 The first three books creates the strong character arc that makes it impossible to avoid becoming fond of Anne and the adventures she has。 Books 4 and 5 are the wrapping up of the romance plot of the book。 Books 6 and 7 are that fully fleshed-out epilogue of her children and their adventures that I wish more authors penned for the most devoted readers that have come to understand the characters well enough that they're almost like real people。 I'm not done reading book 7 yet, and haven't read book 8 so I'll update this when I have those finished to add my final thoughts。 Anne of Green GablesA charming classic that I had read in childhood but picked up again。 L。M。 Montgomery does a wonderful job of creating a realistic world full of dimensional characters。 Anne's character growth from an orphan outsider to a well-loved resident of Avonlea is fun to watch especially because of the mishaps she often finds herself in。 This will forever be a favorite "good feelings" read。Anne of AvonleaA well-done continuation of a beloved classic。 Anne tackles new challenges such as teaching in her own schoolhouse and watching romance start to sweep her closest friends off their feet。 Anne comes into womanhood throughout this novel and, after her start as a plucky orphan in book 1, you can't help but feel proud。Anne of the IslandAnne goes off to college! While in her time period it wasn't the most common thing for a young lady to do, re-reading it in 2021 as a college graduate myself I LOVED this book。 It was relatable to read about her social life and the budding romances around her as well as her homesickness and travels back home where things never really change all that much。 Overall, I think this might be my favorite book of the series。Anne of Windy PoplarsBecause this book is written entirely in letter format from Anne to Gilbert, I thought this book was a little harder to read。 Although it is technically book 4 of the series, L。M。 Montgomery actually wrote this 7th in the Anne series。 It is a bit more of a 'supplementary book' as it fills in the gap that would have otherwise been left between Anne of the Island and Anne's House of Dreams。 If the letter-style writing drives you crazy, it could definitely be saved until after you've devoured the narrative-style books and are just craving more information on Anne's life。Anne's House of DreamsAnne is finally married to (view spoiler)[ Dr。 Gilbert Blythe (hide spoiler)]! Their life as newlyweds is so joyful, it's the epilogue to the Anne story that I would have longed for had the series been cut short。 Although it covers very happy years, there are some sad times and stressful moments that add reality to the novel。 The new characters and the "House of Dreams" are just delightfully written。 This is probably my second favorite book in the series。Anne of InglesideThis book is the first book that focuses less on Anne and more on her children。 Although technically book 6 in the series, L。 M。 Montgomery actually wrote this book last out of the Anne series。 It's charming to read about her children and their adventures as a young family。 Although, with so many children's storylines it's hard to get specifically attached to any single one so the fondness that the reader felt for Anne as a child isn't quite able to be replicated。I'm working on finishing Rainbow Valley and will then read Rilla of Ingleside and will update this review afterwards。 。。。more

I received this series as a Christmas gift when I was twelve years old。 I loved these stories then and have read them again at least three or four times over the years since。 I'm now waiting for my granddaughter to get old enough so I can enjoy them allover again with her。 I received this series as a Christmas gift when I was twelve years old。 I loved these stories then and have read them again at least three or four times over the years since。 I'm now waiting for my granddaughter to get old enough so I can enjoy them allover again with her。 。。。more

All of these books, these stories, these characters, have kept me company since I was a young girl。 I still love returning to them now as a young woman and I don’t think I will ever stop。 L。M。 Montgomery created the most beautiful and magical world。 And every time I finish them, I’ve very, very tempted to pack everything up and move to Prince Edward Island without a second thought。✨

Who doesn't love Anne of Green Gables? I love these books, especially Anne of Green Gables, the first book in the series。 L。M。 Montgomery captures beautifully the experiences of childhood and how we think and feel as we move into adulthood。 Anne is a wonderful character who you laugh and cry with。 Her imaginite way of looking at the world encourages all to see the beauty and the wonder around us。 This is a seres of books that still has pride of place in my bookcase。 AND。。。 I've even been to PEI Who doesn't love Anne of Green Gables?
